Web Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement applies to the 4a4peds.eu website. Host Metropolia UAS strives to meet the criteria outlined in the WCAG 2.2 guidelines at the A and AA levels.
Our goal is to provide digital services that are accessible to all users. In this accessibility statement, we outline the accessibility issues found within the service and explain how you can provide feedback and suggestions for improving the service’s accessibility. This accessibility statement was published on February 2nd 2026.
The description of the site’s accessibility is based on an assessment by an external expert organization.
Status of the Digital Service’s Accessibility
The service largely meets accessibility requirements.
Accessibility Issues that Prevent Use
- Active Element Indication. In the navigation, the active element is indicated by color only, without a visible outline.
- On the Materials page, the contrast ratio between the active element and adjacent elements is 1.2:1 for mouse users, which does not meet contrast requirements.
Accessibility Issues That Make Use More Difficult
- Links on the News Page. Generic link texts such as “article” do not sufficiently describe the destination.
- The same content is linked multiple times, which may cause confusion for users of assistive technologies.
- Large clickable areas should be implemented so that assistive technologies expose only a single, descriptive link.
- Image Link to the Home Page. The image link leading to the home page lacks an appropriate alternative text describing its purpose.
- Internal Links on the Materials Page. Duplicate and empty anchor links are exposed to screen readers, causing unnecessary repetition. Invisible focusable elements make keyboard navigation more difficult.
- Text-Only Zoom. When text is enlarged to 200%, some content on the home page becomes hidden.
Other Accessibility and Usability Observations
- Center-Aligned Text. Center-aligned paragraphs may reduce readability for some users.
- Skip Link Announcements. Screen readers occasionally announce extra, unnecessary information for skip links after page refresh.
- Text Over Images. Although contrast is sufficient, decorative elements in background images may affect text readability for some users.
