4A4PEDs
– Towards an Energy Alliance for Sustainable Urban Energy Systems
The 4A4PEDs Project is a European Energy Alliance uniting researchers, cities, and businesses to develop sustainable urban energy systems that improve urban life and energy access for residents across Europe and beyond.
Sustainable Cities Foundation: Guiding the Principles of 4A4PEDs
Coordinated by EURAC Research (Italy), this international research and innovation program explores how sustainable cities can thrive through clean energy transition, smarter urban planning, and resilient infrastructure. By focusing on Availability, Accessibility, Affordability, and Alliance, the project addresses the social, economic, and environmental challenges that cities face in the path toward a climate-neutral future.
4A4PEDs supports innovation, expertise, and collaboration across multiple countries — bringing together governments, educational institutions, and businesses to design equitable solutions that reduce pollution, create economic opportunities, and improve public health.
Building Energy-Resilient Cities Through Research and Innovation
Through data-driven research, the project provides tools, training, and management models that help urban regions and communities strengthen city energy resilience and become more energy-efficient and sustainable.
Energy Alliance Partners: The Consortium Behind 4A4PEDs
The Energy Alliance behind 4A4PEDs consists of 15 partners from 5 European countries, including research and educational institutions, city authorities, and businesses. Together they develop, test, and implement innovative clean energy technologies that enhance urban resilience, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and cut carbon emissions across urban and district energy systems.
Co-applicants are Eurac Research, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and VSB Technical University of Ostrava.
